Organizers say 2017 airshow drew around 75,000 people
Hot off a successful Abbotsford Airshow, organizers are already preparing for next year’s event, when they say the U.S. Navy’s legendary Blue Angels will perform here for the first time in more than a decade.
The Blue Angels have already committed to appearing at the show, the first time they’ve been to Abbotsford in 15 years, according to Jadene Mah, the airshow’s media co-ordinator.
“How exciting is that?” Mah asked.
Last weekend, tens of thousands of men, women and children flocked to Abbotsford International Airport over the weekend to take in all sorts of aeronautic entertainment.
Organizers estimate around 75,000 people took in the show over its three days.
The weather also came through, and smoke that had been plaguing the valley since the end of July dissipated as the weekend progressed.
Mah, the show’s media co-ordinator, said that Sunday morning’s skies may have dissuaded some people, but the day “turned out to be the perfect airshow day.”
