Blue Angel’s Fat Albert grounded after deadly Mississippi plane crash
(WEAR) — Blue Angels’ Fat Albert has been grounded once again after returning just a few weeks ago.
The Blue Angels tell Channel 3 the C-130 was not with the team this past weekend in Wisconsin.
The Blues said Fat Albert is out of service due to an ongoing investigation into a deadly KC-130 crash in Mississippi earlier this month that killed more than a dozen people.
Blue Angels’ Spokesman Lt. Joe Hanz released this statement:
Unfortunately, Fat Albert was unable to join us for the show in Osh Kosh this weekend. During the course of the ongoing Marine Corps KC-130T investigation, an airframe similar to Fat Albert, we determined it may be prudent to allow time for the investigation provide more information on possible causal factors prior to resuming flight.
The entire Marine Forces Reserve fleet of C-130s has been grounded for the same reason.
The Blue Angels did not say how long Fat Albert will remain grounded.
