Hear some loud noises in Kingsville Tuesday afternoon?

The Blue Angels may have had something to do with it. The Blue Angels were in Kingsville to meet with the Wings Over South Texas Air Show committee. This year, the show will be held in Kingsville.

Captain Corrie Mays and Lieutenant Tyler Davies said much of the show will be similar to previous shows, but this year is special because for the first time, a woman will be flying. That’s Captain Katie Higgins.

But Mays, who serves in the U.S. Marine Corps, said women have long been a part of the team.

“There are so many of us out there serving with our brothers, in all branches actually all around the world doing great things and so it’s a great way for us to be able to represent them as part of this team here and so it’s an honor, no matter the age whether it’s a boy or a girl to be able to inspire anybody,” said Mays.

Davies said he’s happy to return to the Coastal Bend.

“It means a lot to us to be able to interact with the local community so we can show the pride and professionalism of the Navy and Marine Corps team so we can re-instill in that local community how awesome your military is,” said Davies.

The show is April 8 and 9.
