POINT MUGU, Calif. – The Blue Angels will be flying over Ventura
County Friday afternoon, practicing for this weekend’s air show at Naval
Base Ventura County, Point Mugu.
The six jets in the U.S. Navy
Flight Demonstration Squadron are expected to take off around 3 p.m.
from the base and practice maneuvers over the base, the ocean and the
Oxnard Plain for about an hour.
The Blue Angels are the headliner
for the air show Saturday and Sunday at the base. The team performs from
3 to 4 p.m. both days.
Also performing is the Breitling Jet Team, which is flying in the air
show as part of its inaugural American tour. Supported by the Swiss
watch brand Breitling and based in Dijon, France, the seven L-39 C
Albatros jets can reach speeds of up to 565 mph. The team will perform
at 12:50 p.m. both days.

8 a.m.: Gates open; they close to inbound traffic at 2 p.m.
11 a.m.: Welcome by Capt. Chris Janke, commanding officer, Naval Base Ventura County
11:05 a.m.: Point Mugu Air Show begins
11:25 a.m.: Sean D. Tucker Team Oracle stunt biplane demonstration
11:40 a.m.: Matt Chapman, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University aerobatic aircraft demonstration
11:55 a.m.: H-65 helicopter, Coast Guard search-and-rescue demonstration
12:05 p.m.: Commemorative Air Force warbirds demonstration (part 1)
12:15 p.m.: Commemorative Air Force warbirds demonstration (part 2)
Demonstration by Marine Corps’ Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 267,
made up of AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters and UH-1Y multi-role utility
12:50 p.m.: Breitling Jet Team demonstration
1:38 p.m.: C-1J Channel Islands Air National Guard Modular Airborne Firefighting System water drop demonstration
1:50 p.m.: Airborne Tactical Advantage Company flyby
2:40 p.m.: Sean D. Tucker Team Oracle stunt biplane demonstration
3 p.m.: U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, the Blue Angels
MQ-8B Fire Scout and MQ-8C Fire Scout unmanned aerial systems (drones).
The MQ-8B is being used for reconnaissance, and the MQ-8C is in flight
testing to be deployed. The Airborne Tactical Advantage Company will be
flying the Hawker Hunter and F-21 aircraft. Also, Breitling Jet Team
from Dijon, France, will be flying the L-39 Breitling jets on their
inaugural American tour.
