DURANGO, Colorado (WVLT) –
Commander of the Blue Angels, Bryan Bernacchi, addressed Durango,
Colorado on Friday regarding plans to bury Captain Jeff Kuss, the Blue
Angels pilot killed while practicing for the Great Tennessee Air Show
June 4, and Sunday June 5 in Smryna.
Family and teammates planned to say goodbye to the Top
Gun pilot on Saturday. An F-18 flyover was planned to honor his service
sacrifice. Bernacchi said, “To know Jeff was to love him.” The family
asked for privacy during the funeral, following the fly over.
Bernacchi ended his news conference saying, “On
behalf of the Blue Angels, thank you Durango for honoring Jeff…and for
welcoming this brave warrior home.”
A witness who watched the deadly practice said Capt. Kuss was flying low to the ground before crashing.
