The 2015 Rochester International Air Show presented by Five Star Bank
is happening all this weekend at the Greater Rochester International
The Blue Angels are headlining the show this year. They represent not
only the finest of team aerobatic flying in the world, but also one of
the longest continuous acts in the world of airshows. They fly currently
as a team of six F-18 Hornets and one C-130 Hercules support aircraft
called “Fat Albert.” World War Two vintage aircrafts are flying as well.
In addition, aerobatic flying and skydiving is also featured for both
Proceeds from the event will go towards the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Meanwhile, onlookers near the airfield briefly had a unique souvenir
from the air show. The Blue Angels confirm to Time Warner Cable News
that a piece came off one of the group’s FA-18’s during Saturday’s
A spokeswoman for the Blue Angels said the group has recovered a
piece of fuselage found floating in the water near RIT. We’re told a
person fishing in wetlands made the discovery and tweeted a picture of
the object. The Blue Angels tell us the piece came off the right wing of
one of the planes and was discovered missing during the post
demonstration inspection. The flight team tells us it has a great safety
record and takes the matter seriously. It continues to investigate how
the piece came off the plane.
