DAYTON — Air show organizers confirmed today that the U.S. Navy Blue
Angels and Tora! Tora! Tora! will headline the 2016 Vectren Dayton Air
The air show, set for June 18-19, typically features either
the Air Force Thunderbirds or the Blue Angels. The Thunderbirds
performed this year. The Blue Angels last appeared in Dayton in 2014.
The Blue Angels fly F/A-18 Hornet fighter jets.
Tora! is a recreation of the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. The
performance includes replica Japanese “Zero” fighters, Kate torpedo
bombers and Val diver bomber aircraft. Realistic explosions, fire and
smoke will accompany the flights.
“An emotional and factual
narration complete with President Roosevelt’s address places you in the
battle and salutes fallen soldiers on both sides of the conflict. The
feature is a vivid history lesson for air show spectators. 2016 marks
the 75th anniversary of the surprise bombing making it an extra special
