LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) The Blue Angels are in town and one of the crew members is from our region.
Joshua Wilborne is crew chief for Blue Angel Number 7, one of the
demonstration jets that will take part in this weekend’s Lynchburg
Wilborne is a native of Danville and a 2008 graduate of
Tunstall High School. He was a mechanic on F-18’s in the fleet Navy
before transferring to the Blue Angels team.
Wilborne only makes it home about once a year. His proud mother, Donna, was on hand to greet him when he arrived.
“Oh it was awesome,” Donna Wilborne told WDBJ7.
“It’s definitely a once in a lifetime thing to be able to step out of a
Blue Angel and greet your mother.”
“It was a great experience watching him land and come out of the jet,” said Donna Wilborne. “It was awesome.”
Blue Angel Number 7 will be giving rides to three
members of our community Wednesday, including WDBJ7’s Tim Saunders.
Watch for our stories Wednesday and Thursday night on WDBJ7.
