YNCHBURG, Va. (WSET)- The U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels are officially in Lynchburg in preparation for this weekend’s airshow.
The Blue Angels #7 arrived just before 10 a.m. Wednesday morning ahead of the festivities.
Lt. Tyler Davies arrived with his crew chief, Petty Officer 2nd Class Josh Wilborne.
Wilborne says that he is back home after leaving his home in Danville to join the Navy in 2008.
“I fly just about every week. It’s definitely cool, it never gets
boring, but to do be able to do it over Lynchburg was probably the
coolest flight I’ll ever have,” said Petty Officer 2nd Class Josh
Wilborne, a Crew Chief for the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
As he flew in his mother, Donna Wilborne, was waiting for him on tarmac.
“It was really amazing to watch him come in and land and see him come out of the jet,” said Donna Wilborne, Josh’s Mother.
As crew chief, Josh is responsible for the #7 jet on the elite air demonstration team.
definitely want to show the people where I’m from, this whole region
what we do in the military especially in Navy and Marine Corps, and kind
of showcase our pride and professionalism to them,” said PO2 Wilborne.
And, he will get to do that this weekend, in front of his entire family and all of his friends from Danville.
“Got a lot of people coming, so we’ll be able to get it out right in front of them, this is what we do.”
