Local man to participate in Blue Angels air show

FORT WORTH – Petty Officer Second Class Ryan Schick, of Oakwood, who serves with the Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, also known as the Blue Angels, and will be assisting in the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show Sept. 12 and 13. Schick, a logistics specialist with the Blue Angels, is an Oakwood native and graduated from Oakwood High School in 2008. Schick has served in the Navy for one year. This is the 25th anniversary of the Bell Helicopter Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. In a press release, Alliance Air Production President Tom Harris said, “We are excited to be celebrating the 25th Anniversary. This annual showcase of our military, aviation and aerospace industry, has become one of the largest community events in North Texas, benefiting more than 60 North Texas non-profit organizations, including Carry the Load.” This year’s show will feature two of the world’s top jet teams, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and the Breitling Jet Team. The show will also feature military and civilian performances and ground activities which will include simulators, interactive exhibit booths, static displays and aircraft tours. Carry the Load is an organization that provides support and assistance to veterans and first responders. Alliance Air Productions, the non-profit organization behind the air show, has reportedly distributed more than $370,000 in funds to over 60 charities since 2006. Gates for this event will open at 9 a.m. The event begins at 11 a.m. The Breitling Jet Team will begin their air show at 12:30 p.m. and the Navy Blue Angels will follow at 3 p.m. While general admission is free, parking is $30. Proceeds from this event will benefit charitable organizations across the North Texas region.
