SAN DIEGO — The MCAS Miramar Air Show ended Sunday drawing thousands near and far to see Marines and Navy soar across the sky.

A variety of live demonstrations took place across the three days including the Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) demo.

“We’re not only on the ground, we’re in the air and on the sea, too,” said Sgt. Derrek Cardinale with the Marine Corps Reserves.

MAGTF displays the coordinated use of close air support, armor, artillery and infantry forces, giving spectators an up close view.

“They are extremely brave and it’s an honor to have them serving us, ” said Bernardo Wiseboard.

The MCAS Miramar Air Show was also celebrating 100 years of Marine Corps Reserve.

“The reason I enlisted was because I came to an air show when I was two three years old for the very first time asking marines and navy pilots what’s going on with the plane and stuff and now I get to return the favor to those little kids,” said Sgt. Cardinale.

For some kids and adults it’s their first air show, for others like Alex Vierstra it’s tradition and a look at what his dad did as a former Marine.

“I’m proud of my dad and my brother is a Marine, too. I’m pretty proud of both of them,” said Vierstra.

From F-35s to F-18s — there was plenty of excitement to bring spectators coming back for years to come.
