Wings Over South Texas is soaring into Kingsville this year and the city is hosting their Meet the Blues rally in conjunction with the high-flying fun!
Shadowing the 2018 Wings Over South Texas Air Show Theme “Honoring Women Veterans,” the city of Kingsville has partnered with Celanese to present all registered women veterans from the Coastal Bend with a commemorative coin. They will also be assigned VIP seating for the air show, and city employees have been raising money to treat them to lunch during the weekend long event.
Texas Veterans Commission Women Veterans Program Manager Anna Baker will say a few words during the ceremony.
Meet the Blues will take place at the JK Northway Coliseum on Friday, March 23rd. It is free to everyone and doors open at 5 PM. The event offers the best view of the Marine Corps Battle Color Detachment, an enhancement to this year’s show.
Families will be able to collect autographs from all performers, including the Navy’s elite flying squadron, the Blue Angels. Kids also have the chance to ‘earn their wings’ after creating paper jets to fly through an obstacle course! Food trucks will be on-site to cater to your appetite and the night will end with a free concert by the Dave Rukkus Band, thanks to sponsorship from Kingsville’s Fit 24.
The Kingsville Visitors Center will be onsite to take your photos and will kick off a photo contest on their new Instagram page, where passes to the King Ranch and other goodies are up for grabs.
