Demonstrations of flying prowess by the Navy Blue Angels will be a highlight of the New Orleans Air Show on April 22-23 at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Belle Chasse.
On April 21, schoolchildren are invited to see a show presented just for them. (In years past, only high school Junior ROTC cadets were invited, but this year all area students are welcome.)
Parking and admission are free. Everyone will be screened, and no coolers or large backpacks will be allowed. Officials also ask that no one operates a drone near the air show.
Gates will open at 8 a.m. on air show days. In addition to the Blue Angels, numerous flight demonstration aircraft, parachute teams and a jet-powered Peterbuilt semi-truck are scheduled to perform. There will be aircraft and other military hardware to view, along with special areas for younger attendees.
For information, school representatives should contact Margaret Nicolosi at (504) 281-8945. For general information on the air show, visit www.neworleansairshow.com.
