OCEAN CITY, Md. – Rumbling engines and the cheer of crowds signaled another successful year of the Ocean City Airshow.
Etching white tails into blue city skies, in tight formation and practiced routine, the planes came barreling through.
Tens of thousands gathered on beaches under a sea of umbrellas to watch. Many people sat on hotel balconies and roofs trying to catch the action.
There were plenty of acrobatics and jaw-dropping stunts from world-class pilots, including Matt Chapman in his Embry Riddle X330. There were also large planes like the Dover-based C-5 Super Galaxy.
This year, the Canadian Forces Snowbirds made their first appearance in the airshow alongside crowd favorites including the F-16 Viper and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.
Even the U.S. Coast Guard dropped in, showing off with a search and rescue demo to large crowds.
The OC Airshow continues into Sunday with more displays and shows starting at noon.
