The U.S. Navy Blue Angels on Monday announced Cmdr. Matt Kaslik as the team’s executive officer for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Kaslik, a flight officer currently assigned to the U.S. Naval Academy, will succeed Cmdr. Bob Flynn.

“The team will be sad to say goodbye to Cmdr. Flynn, but are also lucky to have had the opportunity to select such an outstanding and seasoned professional, such as Cmdr. Kaslik. I look forward to welcoming him to the Blue Angels,”  Cmdr. Ryan Bernacchi, Blue Angels commanding officer and flight leader, said in a statement released Monday.

Kaslik, 43, is a native of The Woodlands, Texas. He attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, and graduated in 1995.

The Blue Angels will interview all other 2017-2019 pilot and support officer finalists at the team’s home base of Pensacola Naval Air Station during the week of the Pensacola Beach Air Show, July 11-16.
