Blue Angels highlight list of things happening in Northwest Florida this week

PENSACOLA, Fla. (WKRG) – From the beach, to the skies, to the streets, there’s a lot going on in Northwest Florida this week.

Escambia County, Florida schools are on spring break this week. Many will head to the beach. The surf’s been rough and has already claimed one life and led to several close calls. Beach patrols will be out in force this week. They ask you to swim on beaches with lifeguards and stay out of rough surf.

The Navy’s Blue Angels will be zooming the skies over Pensacola this week. You can catch their practices Tuesday-Friday. Wednesday, after practice they’ll be signing autographs at the National Naval Aviation Museum. See the team’s schedule here.

Spring has barely sprung, but the fight against mosquitos is underway in Okaloosa County. Trouble spots are being spot sprayed this week. Regular nightly spraying will begin soon. Click here to see the spraying schedule.

In Crestview on Wednesday, law enforcement officers will take to the streets, not in cruisers but in running gear for the Torch Run benefiting Special Olympics. You’re invited to line the running route and encourage the officers. The run begins at 8:30 a.m. and goes from the north Crestview Publix south on Industrial Drive to the Crestview Police Department’s home at the Whitehurst Municipal Building.
