WILKES-BARRE (WOLF) — The NEPAirshow has been postponed, causing a complete cancellation of the Blue Angels performance.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport officials say they were working towards shutting down parts of the turnpike for the show planned during Memorial Day Weekend.
However, the PA Turnpike Commission says it would be nearly impossible due to the amount of traffic that weekend.
“Fortunately, we have worked out a plan for August 2020 that will make the next air show an incredible spectacle. More specifically, we have been informed by the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds that they plan to participate in NEPAirshow 2020, as well,” said Carl Beardsley, AVP Executive Director.
The Blue Angels are not able to perform at the 2020 show.
The airport’s next Air Show is planned for the weekend of August 22-23, 2020.
