Go ahead, start preparing for the California Capital Airshow.
The event at Mather Airport isn’t until October, but an appearance Tuesday by the U.S. Navy Blue Angels kicked off its planning phase. Two Blue Angels visited the airport in an F/A-18 Hornet to meet with the organizers of the airshow and conduct a site survey. See photos from that visit with the accompanying slideshow.
In the past, the weekend-long airshow has attracted more than 100,000 people, according to event organizers. It’s among the events that bring weekend visitors to Rancho Cordova, a city that’s seen growth in its business travel and tourism industries.
