PENSACOLA BEACH, Fla. (WEAR-TV) — Businesses on Pensacola Beach are preparing for what looks like a windy and rainy couple of days.
A storm brewing in the Gulf comes during the busiest weekend of the year, with the Blue Angels Air Show.
“It’s kinda like the highlight of our year,” said Bruce Parris, the manager of ‘The Dock’ bar on Pensacola Beach.
“It’s always a big party, a big show and a big revenue boost for everybody,” he said.
“It’s not that we’re ignoring it, but we gotta plan that it’s not gonna hurt us at all…I’m not even sure they know what’s gonna happen yet, but we’ll be ready no matter what,” said Parris.
Next door, the managers of ‘Crabs On The Beach’ restaurant have staff scheduled as if the Blues are flying.
“We seat about six hundred people. So we’re ready for that and prepared as usual,” said manager Richard Abercrombie.
They’re also ready if the show is moved to Sunday.
“We’re staffed up and ready to go Sunday as well and that could mean for a big Sunday and Monday for us,” said Abercrombie.
All are hoping the show will go on.
“Hopefully we’re gonna see the Blue Angels if the weather holds,” said visitor Diane Ray.
The Blue Angels still plan to fly their show on Saturday.
If they do cancel, it will be a decision made that morning.
