MYRTLE BEACH – Airshow legends Rob Holland, Patty Wagstaff, and Mike Wiskus, headline a field of the nation’s top aerobatic performers set to thrill audiences in the skies over the Grand Strand April 28-29, 2018 during the Wings Over Myrtle Beach Air Show. Few air shows offer as much record and award-winning talent on the same stage.
Millions of airshow spectators worldwide have witnessed the ferocity of Rob Holland’s performance. Holland’s precise and athletic style of flying has led to seven consecutive U.S. national aerobatic championships and four consecutive world four-minute freestyle championships. With more than 15 years as a full-time air show performer, Holland pushes his MXS-RH aircraft to it’s fullest potential as he constantly develops new maneuvers to take aerobatics to the next level.
As a six-time member of the U.S. Aerobatic Team, Patty Wagstaff has won gold, silver, and bronze medals in Olympic-level international aerobatic competitions. She is the first woman to win the title of U.S. National Aerobatic Champion and one of a few pilots to win it multiple times. Wagstaff’s smooth, aggressive style sets the standard for performers the world over.
Passion is a key element for every air show pilot. Mike Wiskus’ entry into aviation began at an early age. Life forever changed when Wiskus’ father took him to his first air show in Iowa at the age of 10. More than thirty years later, Wiskus has accumulated more than 24,000 flight hours and qualified in more than 40 aircraft. Mike is a U.S. National Aerobatic Champion and a member of the 2004 U.S. Aerobatic Team. Air show attendees will witness the awesome capabilities of his signature Pitts S-1-11b stunt bi-plane with 300 hp Barrett IO-540 engine.
Sponsored by VisitMyrtleBeach.com, the inaugural Wings Over Myrtle Beach at the Myrtle Beach International Airport is the first full-scale air show in the Grand Strand in more than 20 years. The non-stop air show action is headlined by the legendary U.S. Navy Blue Angels performing in their signature blue and gold F-18 Hornet fighter aircraft.
